years, has made more than thirty expeditions to India, Egypt, Myanmar, Tonga, Sri
Lanka, Namibia, Kenya, Antarctica, India, the Azores, Borneo, and many other locations
to photograph unscripted interactions between man and nature’s living masterpieces in
their natural state.
Theo Jansen ~ Dutch artist and kinetic sculptor. He builds large works which resemble skeletons of animals and are able to walk using the wind on the beaches of the Netherlands. His animated works are a fusion of art and engineering.
Julian Beever's Pavement Drawings ~ Beever is an English chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l'œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle.
ZUMBAKAMERA ~ zoom+back+kamera ~ an amazing flash site by Peruvian-born animator and illustrator Jossie Malis (now living in Barcelona, Spain). Check out these two animations in particular: Bendito Machine and Pacha. Lots more at the site.
Yerka ~ a Polish surreal artist and painter Yerka who studied art for a short time at University, but then learned from direct study of Northern European masters, the Van Eycks, Dierck Bouts, Robert Campin, Bosch, and surrealists such as Magritte. His paintings are acrylic on canvas and carefully rendered, using images from his childhood, including his grandmother's kitchen. He also includes odd beasts and whimsical landscapes.
